A Word from the President

Hi Everyone

I had the pleasure, recently, of being in the audience for the "Invitational Honors Band", hosted by the Cleveland Lesbian/Gay/Allies Concert/Marching Band. The folks in Cleveland sent out an invitation some time ago to participate in the February event. Musicians from as far away as Houston and Florida traveled to Cleveland (in the winter!) to participate.

As an audience member, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Cleveland arranged for Guest Conductors, emcee Lisa D'Amore, and challenging music for the participants. What they delivered was a great concert and another amazing performance experience for LGBA members. For some, it was an opportunity to work on music more challenging than the norm in their bands back home. For others, it was a great way to catch up with old LGBA friends, while meeting some new ones.

Kudos to George Oberdorf and everyone in the Cleveland Band for providing this regional event for LGBA Members. I encourage all bands to reach out and partner with fellow LGBA musicians...this is exactly the kind of spirit that keeps LGBA going!
