Las Vegas Pride... Everyone Can March!
by Alison Jordon
Band Manager; Great American Yankee Freedom Band of Los Angeles
This May, the Great American Yankee Freedom Band will be marching in the Las Vegas Pride Parade which takes place on Friday night, May 11. We'd like to extend an invitation to all our brothers and sisters in other LGBA bands to come march and have a fun weekend with us.
We'll provide you with music, illumination (a pair of battery operated lights that is, you can bring more if you want to be colorful) and a uniform, all you need to do is bring black pants, shoes & socks, lyre & flip folder, and your instrument (we may have loaners for some of the larger instruments) . If you're interested and would like more details, please contact Alison Jordan at ajordan@covad.net.
We have a block of rooms at Fitzgerald's which is located at the end of the parade route in downton Las Vegas. The rates are as follows (single or double occupancy, rates increase if you tell them you have three or four people in your room):
Thursday 5/ 10/2007 & Sunday 5/ 13/07 - $49 per night
Friday 5/ 11 /2007 & Saturday 5/ 12/2007 - $72 per night
All persons must pay a $4.50 porterage charge regardless if you decline this service, so be sure to bring your marching anvils for them to unload.
